Its not just lie down. It is much more then just be still on your back. When you allow yourself to slip deeper within, then you will hardly resist the power of Savasana healing benefits.

BENEFITS OF YOGA ON THE BEACH
Yoga is unity and belongs to nature. We have already felt or heard that yoga has many benefits to our wellbeing. Doing yoga on the beach means more ‘added value’ to your practice — the positive effect of sea air, sunshine, and nature. Moreover, feeling as being on vacation stimulates de-stressing.
Top 8 Benefits for Doing Yoga on the Beach
Outside Activity
Outside Activity. Exercising in nature – especially near the sea – helps ease stress, tension, and anger. Moreover it increases happiness, satisfaction and energy. Fresh air offers you a healthy supply of oxygen and an aerosol full of minerals. It’s said that 10 minutes of exercise outdoors makes a difference for our health. So, imagine what you could do an hour of practice.
Connect to Nature
Connect to Nature. Simply being in nature has a positive effect on our body-mind. As soon as we are immersed in natural beauty, our nervous system relaxes. If you add the sea’s hypnotic sound, you get sound therapy, one that only nature can give you. And sometimes, you will be given an orchestra of birds, winds, all together chatting and laughing around you. This beauty inspires your creativity and opens new spaces for acceptance to grow.
Simple wind on your face can help you bring out new forgotten emotions and feelings.
Boost Energy and Happiness
Boosting Your Energy & Happiness. Sea air cleans our lungs and releases our energy. Salty sea air is abundant with good negative ions that help our body absorb oxygen easier. That’s all the mystery.
During the practice, we additionally focus on our breathing and connection of the breath with movement. All together significantly stimulating our serotonin levels, as we know, makes us feel good.
Revive Vitamin D
Revive your Vitamin D Levels. Research shows that Vitamin D levels are insufficient for the majority of populations that live inside. Not always so for those living where the sun shines. This is primarily due to our modern indoor lifestyle.
Did you know that Vitamin D acts as a hormone, influencing about 200 different functions within our body, being responsible for various tissues and organs’ body function. As humans we are made to live outdoors, and we need to remind ourselves to step outside whenever possible.
Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Doing yoga in a beautiful cosy shala is more pleasant in the sense of safety and control of the conditions: lights, sounds, temperature, or schedule. Here, in nature, we have to adapt to many different factors we cannot control.
Maybe you think some poses are not for public spaces where there is no shala intimacy and security. Maybe, you feel as you cannot focus on some more challenging postures as many distractors around could annoy you.
All these disturbances help us increase adaptability and patience and soon we discover that are only our mind frames.

Increase Adaptability & Acceptance
Following the above, we need to nurture gratefulness when nature offers us nice weather for pleasant practice. There may be clouds that come out and cover the sun.
You will be surprised at how invigorating practice on a cloudy or windy day can be. After a few breaths, you just enter into your inner world and set aside the world around and get into the flow. Our effort of non-attachment will have us release our ideas of how the session should be and under what conditions. See instead the total opposite, on days where there is perfect conditions that make you feel as though you are in paradise.
Keep Safe
COVID Safe Practice. Nowadays restrictions encourage people to occupy open public spaces or nature locations for activities, more than ever before in ‘normal’ times. To natures misfortune this also means people leave more trash and rubbish around. Sometime in the middle of natural virgin environments.
Closing shalas and fitness places, everything moved to online which is excellent. And I am a nostalgic personality. I can’t/don’t want to lose old-school habits of group yoga gatherings.
I still believe that it is healthier for all of us to step out and do it together out on the beach where UVB Sun rays sterilise all under it.
Treat Your Feet
Treat Your Feet. Sandy beaches are maybe more demanding for your workout as the underneath support is movable. It may be harder for you to find your balance.
However, it provides a great opportunity to practice more challenging postures, as you can fall onto the sand with less risk of injury.
Sitting poses are delightful as you have tailor-made support adapting to your body shape. Normally you need to provide blankets or bolsters on the mat, and yet here on the beach, on the sand moulds to the unique support your body needs.
Beach yoga can be wrapped up with a swim to wash away all you released in movement. And YES, the feeling after is divine. I would like for all of you to experience more and more practice like this, on the beach.
And summer is here.
